jessgnc 167 Posted May 1, 2017 Watermelon - where does it fit in? It isn't high in Protein, but can you count it towards Water intake (since it is naturally flavored water, technically)? What stage would it fall under? You need to chew it but it melts in your mouth - does that qualify as the mushy stage? I'm honestly just curious. I plan on sticking to what my doctor and nutritionists tell me, but I had a piece of watermelon yesterday and got to wondering what stage it would be a viable option. 2 Debbie Todd and Adeline Ronado reacted to this
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted May 1, 2017 Its a waste of calories. I'm almost to maintenance and I still haven't had fruit.
blizair09 3,250 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) It has way too many carbs and sugar for me. I'd say avoid it, but see what your surgeon says. Edited May 1, 2017 by blizair09 typo 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
GrrlAnn 177 Posted May 1, 2017 It doesn't. I am allowed to have fruit now that I am 3 months out but it doesn't contribute to my Protein goals so it only adds to my calorie count... I lump fruit in with my splurge/starch foods which I have infrequently.Sent from my XT1585 using BariatricPal mobile app
dmdakd 44 Posted May 1, 2017 Highest carb day I have had so far was the day I ate watermelon on the boat. The only fruit that I have been able to eat and not completely trash my carb count is berries, and not very many of those.
Airstream88 361 Posted May 1, 2017 My NUT allows me 2 servings of fruit daily to be eaten AFTER the Protein serving at a mini-meal. I don't eat fruit every day but do tend to eat it several times a week. I am also allowed 2 multigrain servings daily (not to be eaten at the same time as the fruit serving). So far my weight loss is pretty steady so I'm not seeing any harm from eating these Fiber rich foods daily. And I hardly ever have any issues with Constipation. 1 1Day1Life4Now reacted to this
Sherrie Scharbrough 311 Posted May 1, 2017 I would say be careful!! I had watermellon way back then. (I am almost 4 years out) it has quite a bit of acid, I found out the hard way. It made me ave "the back door trots"!! Need I say more about it being acidy!! LOL
Berry78 4,261 Posted May 2, 2017 I've noticed that I'm extra sensitive to the acid taste of fruits. Blueberries, honeydew melon, strawberries... They really do nothing for me. Bananas are ok. Too bad they aren't low glycemic! Maybe it'll keep changing...
1Day1Life4Now 882 Posted May 2, 2017 I haven't had watermelon yet but I have had cantelope, strawberries, bananas and Halos. I know they aren't Protein but they are fiber and they satisfy my sweet tooth. I personally see nothing wrong with fruit since it is a healthy choice and provides a quick easy snack. 2 Airstream88 and Sullie06 reacted to this

Sullie06 1,013 Posted May 16, 2017 My nut wants me eating fruit, at least once a day. I've had Watermelon with no issues and found it easy to eat and easy to digest for me personally. My NUT said fruit is an important part of your diet when used in moderation. 2 Luwyn21 and Debbie Todd reacted to this
