Im almost 7 months out and im obsessed lol. It was the worst in the beginning. During the pre op and post op stages where i couldn't really eat and was on liquids. I watched hours of YouTube videos of this tiny Japanese woman just eating POUNDS of food at a time. Then i would binge watch food network and cooking channel. But i can't just watch any food shows. I need travel food shows like Diners, Drive ins and Dives, carnival eats, bizarre foods (and every bizarre foods incarnation), and probably some others but those are my current heavy hitters. I don't know what it is but there is just something really comforting and relaxing about just mindlessly watching someone eat or looking at amazing looking food being made. Love it. Totally obsessed lol.

I did that for a little while post-op. I didn't have any hunger and I wanted to test the limits.

I would never do it now. I would be in the kitchen all day.

I've always loved cooking competition shows ( Hell's Kitchen, Master Chef, Chopped, Iron Chef, Holiday Baking Championship, Guys Grocery Games, etc) and I still love watching them now. They don't make me hungry to send me to the kitchen for a snack.

My wife loves them, and I enjoy most of them. Haven't watched it in a while but Bitchin Kitchen was my favorite. I love Nadia G. We just binged on the Great British Baking Challenge (or named something like that). Was all amateurs and had to do some pretty cool recipes. It was just a laid back show without all the typical nastiness you sometimes get in reality/competitive shows.

I like watching Cooks Vs Cons and some of the baking series. None of the food looks appetizing to me though so that helps otherwise I don't think I could watch them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
