They took out my "heater"!

Recommended Posts

I think they removed my heater during my surgery. I'm always cold now. I'm having no complications whatsoever, but I'm always cold.

Anyone else have this?

67! Wow. Lol. I'm cold with mine at 75 and I haven't even had surgery yet. I sure hope it doesn't get colder for me.

@Paul Bahr I've read many posts of people being cold after surgery as well. Seems to be the "normal " case for a select few.

Low Iron levels can make you cold or else an under active thyroid.

I was cold preop on the low fat, low carb diet. After surgery I'm on a moderate diet and haven't been cold as much.

Lol. It gets better. Im approaching 4 mos post op and my heater is finally starting to work better and i can stop wearing thermals. I too was freezing all day n night. To make matters worse my partner at work has menopause so she was always hot... just imagine 4 hrs in a car 5 days a week of that, lmbo. Omg was horrible.

LOL, my wife is premenopausal and is always hot! It's crazy though being cold - I always used to say is start sweating if I thought too hard.

So cold all the time! I texted a friend today "this is the first time in memory that I've said this: I'm cold." People catch colds in my apartment because I keep it so cold. Now I'm piled under blankets and still shivering. I was getting worried.

I was cold all the time. It stopped once my weight loss slowed to an average pace. Now that I am just losing a couple pounds here and there, I am no longer cold.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
