May 5th less than a week away!

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is finally nearing. Less that a week away. I'm so very nervous and excited at the same time. Location is Carmel, Indiana. Anyone else same time or location that might want to be buddies?

I had mine done May 5 too. How is your recovery going?

Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm feeling pretty good. The first five days were very tough. I'm getting tired of eating the same bland things every day. I've lost 20 pounds. Which is great. But nothing in the last five days. I'm addicted to the scale I think.

How are you doing?

I've done the same thing! I lost 18 pounds and now 5 days of nothing! Reading that it's expected is somewhat comforting but I really was enjoying seeing the scale go down each day.

I am new to the forum and just had the sleeve done on May 24th, so 4 days ago. I had the liquid diet for one week and lost 9.4 Pounds. After the surgery I had gained back all but 1.4 pounds putting me back at 238 pounds. 4 Days out and I am still not back at my starting weight. Could you please let me know when you started losing weight after the surgery, how many days did it take to see the numbers go down? I am doing exactly what they told me to do but am already getting discouraged that I might be one of the 25% that doesn't succeed. Thanks for your help!

From what I was told we are retaining Water from the IV and still swollen. I'm not sweating the scale. Just focused on healing and learning.
I'm five days out. Don't freak out give yourself time to heal. It'll happen.
Btw where'd that statistic of 25% don't succeed come from? I've never seen that.

That is what my surgeon told me. He said 25% of the people that get the surgery will fail and gain all their weight back. Thanks for your reply it is much appreciated. Since you are 5 days out, have you lost any weight yet?

Idk. I haven't weighed myself because I don't want to get hung up on it. I have a post op the first week of June and I'll get weighed then. It's kinda hard to not check but I think it's made me have less stress.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
