I'm home! We left early Tuesday morning and got in late last night, exhausted. Our trip was very spur of the moment. No time for planning, barely enough time to book a hotel. We only went to San Juan. It was nothing like I expected it to be. I guess it's most like New York City. It's HUGE!!! All hustle bustle and it never sleeps. We arrived late Tuesday afternoon and just wondered around then went out to dinner. Luckily, our hotel was near the beach, so we spent a full day just doing the beach thing. I'm already peeling like a banana!! The next day was touring Old San Juan. How beautiful! The architecture on the old buildings is just gorgeous with lots and lots of balconies, dripping lush foliage and blooms. As we were shopping along one of the narrow streets, a large group of people (there must have been at least a hundred!) rounded the corner clapping their hands and singing. We were swallowed by them! They filled the sidewalks and the street and just kept clapping and singing. I clicked a pic, hung onto a car and just smiled and smiled. I don't know what they were singing, but they were happy and that made us happy too. The old city wall was first built back in the 1500's and looked so cool rising out of the turquois sea. We also toured Fort San Cristobal. Wow!!! It's definitely a must see. Then we caught the city bus to take us back to our hotel area, missed our stop and rode that darn bus for 2 hours, LOL!!! But it was a great way to see some of the city. There is a gigantic mall in San Juan. The traffic was just jammed all around it. It took us 45 minutes just to go around two sides of it! Oh, don't ever go to San Juan and think your gonna just rent a car to get around. Sure you can rent the car, but driving in San Juan is CRAZY!!! I will go back to Puerto Rico some day, but I want to visit the other side of the island when I do. I also want to go up into the mountains. Wow, there is just so much to see there!! Here are just a few pics (hope this works!)...

I remember when I went to San Juan, I was expecting the beautiful beaches and sand, only to find beautiful Water with lots of rocks. We stayed at the San Juan Hotel, and they did have a beach, it was awesome. Quite the photographer you are.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
