Banded for 6 weeks

Recommended Posts

Hi, ^_^

I was banded on Aug.22, 2007, by Dr. Corvala in Tijuana. I have to say that the Hospital Angeles was the cleanest & most attentive hospital I have ever been in. U.S. Hospitals could sure learn a lesson from them. And Dr. Corvala & his staff were wonderful & very attentive. I have adjusted well, but I do not get full as quickly as I should. Does anyone know if it is too soon to get a fill. And what range of pricing am I looking for. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I was also banded August 22nd and got my first fill on Oct 1st. By that time I needed it. I was getting far too hungry, far too early.

But, as of Wednesday, when I went back to the dietitian, I've lost 33 lbs post op and 15 lbs before. I'm on the way.

No, you can get a fill now. Its about a 6 week wait. Just look for a fill doctor in your area that takes Mexico patients. Where do you live?

I have now been banded for 10 weeks & am 35 lbs thinner. This weight loss did not come easy. I exercise for 30 continuous minutes every morning, eat very lightly, have left off all bread & sugar & carbonated beverages. Being banded does not mean you will automatically lose weight, you have to work on it. I see alot of complainers out there who think the weight is now going to drop off magically. There is no shortcut.

I'm going in for my second fill tomorrow and I was banded on Aug 22nd. There's no fee for me since my insurance paid my loacal surgeon for the procedure and this is follow up care.

My surgeon, Dr Christopher Hart, Atlanta GA area, says we're creeping up on the right fill level to avoid problems and I can attest we're not there yet.

I was banded 10-10-07, I am scheduled for my first fill 11-08, my first year of fills were included in my cost of surgery that the insurance paid. After my 1st year I believe it is 120, so I have heard that it ranges from 90 to 180. You will need to call around. It is definately time for you a fill/.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
