abettyc 3 Posted April 29, 2017 I had the sleeve surgery on Monday the 24th of April. Since then I have had an awful time drinking. I can barely get 20oz down. I get this cramping sensation. I'm kind of frustrated. Any tricks or ideas would be great!
gryffen 176 Posted April 29, 2017 I was 18th and the cramping does go away eventually but what I found is you need to take tiny sips or it's worse. We're you given any anti spasm tablets such as Buscopan? Also try a warm drink, even room temp Water or weak squash may help as people can be temperature sensitive in early days.Sent from my HTC One M9 using BariatricPal mobile app

I was not given anything for anti spasm but thank you for the information if it continues I will ask about that on Monday at my appointment with my surgeon. I will try warmer drinks and see if that does the trick. Thanks for ur advise it's a big help! 1 AP2017 reacted to this
gryffen 176 Posted April 29, 2017 No worries and I hope it works, my spasms are gone as I've found the right mix for me - but please, any concerns speak to your doctor! I'm kind of frustrated. Any tricks or ideas would be great! I was sleeved Monday too. I think I know your feeling. Is it kind of indigestion or a mild heartburn? Mine was like that till Wednesday and the nurses were giving me warm peppermint Water which helped. Disappeared by Thursday morning. Move your shoulders in a circular motion and walk a little with a bottle to sip from. The movement seems to reduce this feeling too 2 abettyc and AP2017 reacted to this
sleever123 8 Posted April 29, 2017 After surgery I had to sit upright and sleep upright for the first two weeks. It sounds like either drinking too much too fast or gas. I would try taking smaller sips- literally use those medicine cups and sip them. 1 abettyc reacted to this

I'm going to keep on trying I'll try sleeping /sitting upright. At this point I'll do anything. I don't want to end up going to the ER for IV fluids:(
