Hi all!

I am 4 1/2 weeks post op and am wondering what other peoples daily food intake looks like. How many calories are you eating & what kinds of food?

Thanks so much!

Kristin

I personally have not counted calories at all so far. I am 6 weeks out and I just make sure I get in those 65 grams of Protein each day and for me I am doing that through protein Water, Protein Shakes and some chicken. One day I did add it up and it was not a lot of calories but as I say I think we have been fooled by the media into thinking we need to stay under a certain amount etc. part of the reason we all have the surgery is to free ourselves of the worry of food intake to a degree. Protein is good and not full of calories. I would focus on that the first three months and see how you do. Congratulations on your accomplishments to date. I am down 41 pounds, off all insulin and three prescription meds and its only been 6 weeks for me. Robert/Florida

i'm roughly the same distance out as you. i definitely make Protein the priority and hit 90-110g a day. my average calories are 900-1100. i thought it was a lot but have spoken to my dr and he assures me it's normal. i'm 6'1 and he said i should be hitting about 1500 calories a day after a few months. the fact that that seems like a ton of food is a good thing in my mind. good luck to you!

I am 6 weeks out and hovering around 750-800 calories and 75-80g of Protein a day. I am a plant-based eater, so getting 80g requires me to eat that many calories. I was eating 480-550 cals per day and started to stall -- upping my calories has made a huge difference in my weight loss.

I'm two weeks out and currently my diet consists of yoghurt, milk, chicken whizzed up, some fruit juice. I do eat a weight watcher meal over 3 days whizzed up and stored as it has enough for me to keep going and chicken bits to snack on.

Can't do MR shakes anymore as too much sweetness but um fine with that.

I get my liquids in so that's about 1.5 litres of squash etc and at least 1 pint of milk daily.

I won't use fitness thing as its too bloody complicated with its macros - I know through our programme what's good and bad and what's sensible.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
