This is a light topic for the weekend. I am down 32 pounds since my sleeve six weeks ago. I have read how people smell and taste have changed since having the sleeve. I have never been able to smell skunk in my life. My family laughed at me when we drove in a car in our semi rural neighborhood. They say " can't you smell that". I would sense something was there but that's all. Recently again I drove with my wife in our neighborhood. My wife has a hyper sensitive smell compared to mine. I smell all other things but I cannot smell skunk. Again we passed a skunk, I sensed something was there but that's all. Are there any other non-smellers of skunk?

Lol! Lucky you!

I actually never smelled a stinkbug (didn't really know why they were called that)...

Until the day I helped my MIL vacuum up a few hundred of the buggers. There was so much concentrated odor that I became sensitized to it :(

How strange our bodies are indeed! I'd count it as a win that you can't smell skunk.

Lol I have tears now lol

Skunk as in strong cannabis or the elusive smelly animal?

(Much like our beloved haggis!)

Yeah having worked in security I know the smell well but wasn't sure. Scotland isn't natural habitat for them but we have the odd wild ones escaped

When I got skunk spray on my hand through transfer ( skunk sprayed my front door and I grabbed the handle), I wish I would have had the ability to not smell skunk. Tomato products do not work at removing the smell either btw.

Recipe for removing skunk spray:

First, do not use Water until the solution is applied. The spray is oil based and water+oil don't mix.

Hydrogen peroxide + baking soda + grease cutting dish soap like Dawn.

Mix it together and put on the sprayed area for a few minutes, rinse off. Repeat as necessary.

I forget the proportions, but basically make a liquidy paste and add the squirt of dish soap. Doubt anyone will be pulling out the measuring spoons!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
