I'm 61 years young and I've raised 10 children with my hubby. We have 28 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. My RNY is not primarily about weight loss as I have precancerous nodules from Nexium and a hiatal hernia plus a ruptured diaphragm that needs fixing. I'm reading all of the info you all share and feel quite educated to help myself.

I also see where this surgery is anything but a quick fix! I see some struggling with body issues and food addictions which are real! I've found in my life if I didn't like myself, it wouldn't matter what size I am. Big or small we must love ourselves! Yes, thinner people are taken more serious in workplaces as a whole... healthy needs to be the goal! I've had cancer 7xs and found out it can't own me unless I give my power for it to do so... we must be determined to be our best selves, adjusting the process along the way. None of us are perfect! None of us are junk either! Rediscovering who we really are will only make us better and stronger. These are feelings I want to share with you all as we are on this amazing journey called life and we each write our own story. God bless you all

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
