Meal Replacement Protein Powder

Recommended Posts

My doctor is requiring every patient to purchase Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement powder. From what I've read it has why Protein in it. My team knows I am vegan. I'm going to call my dietician, she's just not very informative on a vegan diet. I have read about many protien powders that are vegan but i don't think they are the same as a meal replacement powder. I also have stomach issues when I eat dairy. I'm not sure if the whey protein would affect me the same way. Does anyone know of specifically a meal replacement powder?

VegaOne nutritional shake supplement! It's delicious. 20g a scoop. I don't care for whey (health wise) but I will be using it temporarily since I've got Protein premier covered by my insurance. After I'm cleared food wise, definitely back to VegaOne products.

I have used the vega one chocolate. I thought it was too chalky. I use soy milk since it has more Protein. I am going to use it for flavor with other ingredients in my smoothies. I will try to find the others at whole foods or online in some single palettes first. The texture may just be something I need to get used to. Thank you all so much for the help.

Jay Robb is whey Protein so it's not vegan but the sun warrior protein looks great. They have a ton of recipes too! Thx

FYI - Muscle Milk is not vegan [emoji19], but they do have a new line of plant-based/vegan shakes called Evolve. I found them at Target. They are just about as good as any other I've tried.

And as far as meal replacement powders, there are several vegan options, though you may likely need to head to a health food store or order from Amazon. Vega & Garden of Life come to mind.

Here are some others:

I use 1 scoop of Garden of Life, 1 scoop of Orgain, & 1 pouch of Fresh Start smoothie Blend from costco. Mix with a little over 2 cups of Water & it makes 2 16oz. smoothies. Over 30grams of Protein less than 15grams of carbs & about 200 calories.

Fred Meyer/Kroger, Walmart, Target, & other grocery stores have most of these. Fred Meyer/Kroger have a huge variety of vegan powders.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
