pretty.ruby 35 Posted April 27, 2017 Not being married and with both parents gone my niece is my next of kin. I found out she will not be able to take off work the day of my surgery. Because of my health issues I have a durable power of attorney and she will only be a phone call away, but it does make me a little uneasy.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using BariatricPal mobile app

jbaker5d 34 Posted April 27, 2017 I'm so sorry you'll be alone. Don't you have a friend who would go with you? 1 pretty.ruby reacted to this
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted April 27, 2017 The hospital staff will take care of you. You won't be alone. My friend was here for my surgery but after you check in and they get you prepped, even if you have someone with you, you are alone anyway. When I woke up it was nice she was there, but she needed to get something to eat and I had other stuff to deal with after waking up, so she wasn't really necessary. You really just need someone to drop you off and pick you up. The staff takes care of you otherwise. Good luck 3 ProudGrammy, pretty.ruby and MarinaGirl reacted to this
rainyann 118 Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) I sent my son home while I had surgery since I have a 90 year old mother at home. You will be sleeping a good deal of the time that day anyhow.... The surgeon called him after the surgery to let him know everything went ok and he came in later. I didn't see any sense in him visiting me in the recovery room, I slept. You will be fine... aprilannie 18 Posted April 27, 2017 I know what you're going thru. I'm having surgery 5/2 and I'm on my own too. My husband just had the joints in his big toe fused. No driving for 6 weeks and not very mobile right now. I'm taking a cab to the hospital and a friend will drive me home.I'm nervous but I figure I will sleep most of the first day. I hope we don't kill each other while we are both recovering! 1 pretty.ruby reacted to this
MarinaGirl 609 Posted April 27, 2017 I went to Mexico for surgery by myself and it went very well. The doctors and nurses at the hospital took great care of me. When I wasn't sleeping I watched TV or used the Internet on my phone, or read some magazines. Good luck!

My husband works and he is already taking two weeks off prior for us to go to Disney and when we get back my surgery is scheduled for six days later...uggh He is going to take two days off from when I get out the hospital, but I will be on my own. I'm nervous, but I am not goimg to really be able to entertain him during the process so it may be best.Sent from my SM-G900P using BariatricPal mobile app
pretty.ruby 35 Posted April 28, 2017 Thank you everyone for the moral support. My nervousness had to do with my health issues. I am sure they won't do the sugery if my survival is at stake. Guess I am just not used to facing things alone. Before Nov 1st my mom was always there for me and I was with her when she had anything done. Time to put on my big girl pants.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using BariatricPal mobile app
