Sharp pain in upper left abdomen. Normal CT scan. Any ideas? Input?

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm 14 month PO gastric bypass . About a week ago I started having intense sharp pain in my lower left abdomen and then a couple days later in my upper left abdomen also. It seems to happen after I eat and/or drink and not every time ...The pain can last for up to an hour....CT scan was normal. I have no other symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea etc. I feel fine other then those occasional sharp pains here and there. Next step is endoscopy but I'm holding off for a bit to see if the Miralax and stool softener helps. Just curious if anyone else has had this? Thanks!

I had something similar a few years ago and no diagnostic tool helped but I discovered a family history of ulcers in weird places and that's what it was along with muscle tightness due to bowel issues.

Let the softner do their job but if it gets worse then seek help as the pain can be intense.

Thank you! I'm in no hurry for an endoscopy. I'll see how things go for a few days first....hoping the stool softener does the job [emoji16][emoji106] The pain can be very intense that's for sure!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
