my surgery date was March 31, 2017. I am ending my puree stage of foods and I am going to start the next stage. Moving forward I am afraid that I am going to stretch out my new stomach but I still feel hungry, even after slowing down my eating. Due to my fear I stick to the 3 ounces required but I still feel hungry. What should I do? Is it normal to feel this way?

Head hunger. Something you'll have to fight and overcome. Stick to your plan and you should be fine. Make sure to have regular checkups with your dietitian/nutritionist. Given you're already a month out I would make sure to see one, particularly one who is familiar with post-op WLS surgery diets.

You will start feeling restriction with chewable foods next stage.

If you aren't meeting your goals yet, you probably are hungry or thirsty.

And don't worry about stretching your pouch right yet. Keep to the prescribed quantities, and you'll be fine. Rule of thumb is no more than 4oz of anything that has to be chewed (cottage cheese or thicker).

This. It really is head hunger 99% of the time. People buy into the "going to stretch my sleeve" way too often. In time you will be able to eat more, but seriously...you'd make yourself throw up before you get to the point of stretching your sleeve. pureed foods and those that are liquids at room temperature over time (like yogurts) pass through the stomach quicker than what solids will. Consistency of foods matters. I could get away with eating 2 cups of mashed potatoes if I wanted to, but if I eat a cup of solid Protein like chicken I'd feel miserable for the next hour.

Portion Control is key as is tracking your food.

thank you so much! yes i am scared to eat things like chicken so I have been dealing with puree fish which is not too heavy. i tried to cut down on my starch to add more Protein just so I can feel satisfied. But overall I feel "pain" in my stomach when I'm hungry. I try to drink more but the pain is still there. This is why I am feeling the way I am.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
