Recommended Posts

Remember:"A New Year's resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other."

Ok let's here what everyone is saying this Dec 31st

Mine: Is to be more considerate of people I could not tolerate in the past.

Mine are about money this year. We've had lots of unexpected expenses recently, and I've been too lax in the past about paying down credit card bills and so forth. So we start this year with too much debt and bad habits that need to be broken. NO MORE EATING OUT except on special occasions. More home meals. That's my #1 resolution until we're past this money crunch.

Very good Greg! Thats one we should all practice.

The one thing that I want to work on during the next year is not being so opinionated and judgemental. :(

My perennial New Year's goals have always been to lose weight and to save more money for emergencies and retirement. Those are still goals, but I'm thrilled that I made significant progress on them in 2004.

My new goals are to take and pass a higher credentialing exam for my profession and to take the GRE and go back for a second master's degree.

I say ditto to Alex's post. I have not been paying close enough attention to money and have built debt, which I hate. We have been going out to eat too much and I have been buying things I could live without. So, 2005, I want to be focused on minimizing debt and eating more HEALTHY meals at home. Plus, I want to wake up every morning and say, Thank you God for the gift of this band; help me to work with it to be healthy. AND thanks for my lap band family here!!!

May we all become more alive in 2005!!!!!!

I have way too many things that need improvement, so I'll pick three.

1) Pay off debts by spending less money.

2) Reach my goal weight by exercising and eating properly.

3) Finish projects that have been started before starting new ones.

That sounds like a total overhaul! :(

Hi,

My goal is to lose the last 18 pounds and finally get to goal (or beyond)!

I want my business to thrive again and now my thinner self will just have to go out and meet some clients again. No hiding behind fat layers and a phone.!!

And last, sell my house and try to be more organized!!!

I had never kept a resolution for more than a few days. Then, a few years ago I realized that I was an underachiever. How liberating! Now, each year I set resolutions that I can follow easily, a failsafe plan. Sure there isn't any challenge, but my poor battered ego really gets a boost when I realize that I kept my resolutions for an entire year.

Here are this year's resolutions:

Never get naked and roll around in fish hooks.

Never run through the car wash naked and ask for the "Hot Wax".

Never eat a Jeep.

I'll keep them and be happy. Not like past years when I broke my diet, or didn't mow the lawn often enough.

For those of you planning to pay those bills/charge cards off, you may want to start by making a phone call and asking for a cheaper interest rates, if they don't lower the interest, then use another card that charges lower interest to pay of the other cards. I had to make these request and changes when I got my g-son's mother out of debt, but if you don't ask, don't expect them to offer you the lower rate.

I'm with you Jack! I went to my credit union, took out a loan with much less interest rate and paid off all but two of my credit cards and cut up the rest. I hate feeling like my whole check is paid out on credit. Back to the old way. - If I can't afford it; I just can't have it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
