Yes, I have my surgery scheduled for May 30 with Dr Fitzer. I have heard so many good things about him and his staff. My niece and a good friend of mine also used him for their surgery and highly recommended him!

I did the webinar Monday and I have my first appointment May 12. My friend used him for her surgery too; and she recommended him. She has only had great things to say! I have PEIA insurance and a little concerned with how long I could have to wait....hoping I don't have to wait that long.

He's great. I have nothing to complain about. He is his own on call physician which I was surprised about, but super grateful for. He has a thorough eating regimen and really sets you up to be successful.

That's really good to hear! I've been nervous....my insurance has a 12 month wait, but I did 12 months of weight management through them... so I'm hoping we are starting the process in time that all that counts!

Hi everyone,

Im scheduled for surgery with Dr. Fitzer, I know im pulling up this thread from a while ago, but i was wondering if he required any one of you to do an endoscopy or sonogram before surgery? I am a self pay patient.

So far he hasn't had me do that....but my insurance requires 12 months supervised diet. I'm getting ready for my 6th visit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
