What are the reasons they will cover the stomach? I'm getting surgery in July ( I pray ) and I know my tummy will sag. Is there a medical reason for the surgery?

Hi,

After having my vertical sleeve I lost 65 it left me with excess skin on my tummy and legs. Which is causing irritation and infections. In some instances insurance will cover removal. Unfortunately my thighs are my problem which is considered cosmetic even though there is chaffing

I have the lap band and lost 215lbs. My insurance company did pay for my Tummy Tuck. My surgeon took pictures of my extra skin. They removed 9lbs of skin. Now I just need my arms and legs done. Lol

Are you looking into inner thigh, outer or a spiral type procedure?

Hi,

I am looking toward any procedure that will help, my tone is good and by lifting my skin myself it takes care of the problem. My is that argument is that my leg condition is affects my ability to be intimate. In a world where Viagra, any other aids are available for men's sexual issues is covered, why is it that with this issue patients due to excess skin is labeled as cosmetic. I also found out that I have a bulging disk, which is now affected due the change in my gate when I am chaffed. I encourage all of you facing these issues to challenge your insurance companies get documentation by anyone you can. Perhaps we can become a voice for change. I wish we could band together to get help, maybe one day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
