Sorry if this has been asked a zillion and one times... I'm so nervous about drinking the Protein Shakes. shakes in general (unless legit milk shakes from restaurants) make me gag. I am pre-surgery and would like to start trying shakes now so that I can find one or two brands and flavors that I can tolerate or might actually like.

Anyone have any suggestions of brands?

I second Premier Protein. 30 grams of Protein and doesn't taste bad at all. When I get tired of the flavors offered (chocolate, vanilla, etc) I just mix the vanilla in a blender with frozen mango, frozen blueberries, etc to create my own new flavor.

Low fat Muscle Milk is okay , but I actually like the banana cream by Premier the best.

Premier Protein Shakes are the best so far and advanced body fortress powder from Wal-Mart is also pretty good and have 30 grams of Protein and body fortress powder has 60 protein. Pre op I am told we need to drink Atkins shakes because we need to drink 60 grams of protein so we need to drink five shakes a day of 15 grams of protein 5 times a day plus 60 ounces of Water.< br>

If you don't like "shakes" try the Syntrax Nectar. I bought the variety pack to try them all. Flavors like lemonade, iced tea, fuzzy navel. They aren't creamy, more like a regular beverage. I mix them with ice and Water, they are 100 calories, sugar free and 23g Protein. I'm pre op and just giving them a try to see what I like, and so far, so good. [emoji1303]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
