FindingCarrie 244 Posted April 24, 2017 So I am 14 weeks Post op, and things are going great. However, I have had several stalls, which get discouraging. I will go 2-3 weeks and not lose a pound, and then drop 5 lbs in one week! So weird how the body works. When I am feeling disappointed in the slow weight loss, I do side by side photo comparisons of before and after. Here is one that lifted my spirits today. When you see yourself every day, you don't always see the huge changes that are taking place. Don't always count on the scale to show you your victories! Use photos and body measurements as well. You will need them at times when the scale is not moving. 34 Newme17, TexanGal, Lattedah and 31 others reacted to this
julsfit 133 Posted April 24, 2017 Great advice! Thank you for that. I'm only 1 month out and my body is not cooperating in the losing department. I just need to be patient! It does feel like my waist is smaller though. 6 snapy17, GreenTealael, FindingCarrie and 3 others reacted to this

LaLaJ13 24 Posted April 24, 2017 You look great! Thank you for the advice! I am only 3 weeks out and I am still trying to get a hang of this new stomach. Some days it cooperates and some days it does not. I've lost 19lbs so far and I feel great! Thank you again! 4 FindingCarrie, snapy17, ProudGrammy and 1 other reacted to this
Clementine Sky 708 Posted April 24, 2017 You look fantastic! I stalled out more than an old car in need of repairs, haha, but I eventually reached my goal. My longest stall lasted for months, and then boom, I started dropping again. One perk of my body taking its sweet time in losing weight is that I don't have loose skin, and never lost much hair. So the stalls, while frustrating at the time, were beneficial overall. 4 kam0715xx, nettajlong, FindingCarrie and 1 other reacted to this

I am eating healthier than I ever have, so I am just trusting in the process, and progress will come. I am human though, so I do get discouraged from time to time. It's times like these when I whip out the pictures or the measuring tape to remind myself that the scale isn't the only tool to measure my progress. 4 queendeborahbee, kam0715xx, nettajlong and 1 other reacted to this
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) If you change the way you think about stalls you can end up liking them the most. I like my stalls the best because I get the most physical changes during my stalls and my body improves. scale loss is kind of useless compared to the inch loss in stalls and my fat rearranging itself. During a stall I might lose a dress size, when I am dropping weight, I hardly ever get smaller, I just weigh less. mxpxchik11 48 Posted April 25, 2017 Thank you. I am having a really really hard time with this. I will be 4 weeks post op in two days. I have not lost a pound in two weeks!? How is that possible? I don't understand it. I get that there would be stalls but not like this and not so soon. I am so discouraged. I feel like I am doing something wrong. 1 jbaker5d reacted to this

I feel like I am doing something wrong. The vast majority of people experience the "dreaded three week stall" after having WLS, though sometimes it comes a bit sooner or later. That is most likely what you're going through right now. If you do a keyword search about the stall you'll find heaps of threads here about it with tips. You haven't done anything wrong. Your body just needs some time to adjust. It's been through a major surgery, radical eating changes, and weight loss all in a rush. You will start losing again. Just persevere. My stall broke when I increased my calories. Basically I'd been consuming far too calories, so my body thought it was starving and was holding onto to everything I took in to help protect me. It relaxed when I started having more calories. 6 mxpxchik11, goaldigger33, Ldyvenus and 3 others reacted to this
julsfit 133 Posted April 25, 2017 Maybe I should start eating a little bit more
Ldyvenus 317 Posted April 25, 2017 I was feeling sorry for myself because I've been up and down the same pound for a week. I did my measurements yesterday and when I look at the overall progress 3 months out, it makes me happy. I will get there, this isn't a quick fix. 😉 4 FindingCarrie, linah, kam0715xx and 1 other reacted to this

My dietitian meal plan says to eat three meals a day and should have minimal snacking but I'm only 6 weeks out and there's no way I can consume enough food/calories in one meal. I'm thinking I might have to have Snacks anyway just to get more calories and Protein in. 1 linah reacted to this
