banded 5/20/03

Guest mlb

banded 5/20/03 have lost 37lbs. I have had one fill 2cc. I can drink during the am and I am able to eat at night soft foods like Pasta. I try to eat weight watchers meals and drink Protein Shakes during the day. I am a little worried because my weight loss has been slow. I don't think I need another fill but I'm not sure, I can eat a whole dinner and pudding after as long as it is soft. I can't tolerate chicken unless it is past 8pm. any suggestions would be helpful. thanks.

Hi MLB,

The more solid your foods, the longer they will stay with you. Soft foods such as Pasta and especially pudding will slide through your stoma.

Try eating solid stuff and see if it helps.

Good luck

Watch out for starchy foods like Pasta, they are high in carbs and can keep you from losing weight as quickly. Also, I recommend NOT eating your dinner after seven in the evening - or only allowing yourself only one small snack if you do. You might also try switching yourself around so that lunch is your "biggest" meal of the day and keep dinner light. That way the calories you consume are more likely to be burned off around the time you eat them. food late at night does not get burned off because you go to bed and are immobile, during the day you are at least walking around and moving.

Try to get away from the softer foods that dont go down so easily, and be sure that you are not drinking lots of fluids with your meal. Both of those things allow you to get more in than you may realize you are eating.

I hope that helps. ;-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
