mariernest 33 Posted June 22, 2017 My whole family eats so fast then sit and wait for me when we go out to it. It makes me not enjoy it and I end up getting a take out Box. I don't like not making it a social occasion
hmills653 365 Posted June 22, 2017 Feeling sick as hell after eating should help you remember to chew slowly. That's what did it for me. Also with the not drinking until after 30 min. Lol....so true!Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Savagegirl 97 Posted June 23, 2017 Move your fork to your opposite hand just as an experiment for a meal. It really slows you down! 1 MarinaGirl reacted to this
ilgc 17 Posted June 23, 2017 It's so difficult but I find these things helpful to do after each bite, step away from your plate for a designated amount of time (2-5 minutes), set a timer for 2-5 minutes, play a game on your phone, eat with others n socialize during the meal (ie ask questions/try general conversation after each bite & don't take another until the person is done talking) , etc
MCE1205 47 Posted June 24, 2017 I am 14 mos post-op RNY and I have not been successful at this. I have always been a fast eater but I know I've slowed down a bit but not to the recommended amount. I do wait the 30 mins for drinking but I've never gotten ill from eating too fast (yet).
