Adjusted goal-is the number all that should matter?

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of readjusting my goal, I am very happy where I am minus a few adjustments from PS, which will be soon. I have began to wonder how important was the initial goal that I set? Is it really just a number?

Anyone else adjusted their final goal? Why or why not?

I agree, it's just a number. You really had no idea what you would look like at that weight. If you look how you wanted to look at the weight you are now then I would go with that. the reason for the surgery was to make you healthier and happier with your body. You made it!!

You do have a large chest so i'm sure after a tweek or two from PS you'll probably pass your goal.

Reset!

It's just a number. Reset it if you want to -- it's NOT a failure to change it upwards, if that's your concern. The number we choose at the outset is just a guess of where we'll want to be.

My original goal was 199. Then it was 175, then it was 160, then 150 -- now it's 136. But if PS doesn't take me to 136, I'll be adjusting that upwards. I don't want to lose much more weight except in the spots that need PS. if I wind up in the 40s, so be it.

Oooooo, 0.5 lb!!!! Go WASaBB!!!!!

I have no idea what goal will be for me. I'm so far from that, I prefer not to think about it. I know what the tables say, but I don't know what I want. In my adult life I've never been close to a normal weight, so I have no clue what I'll look like even at 200lbs. So how can I say 167 is my personal goal? It's my surgeon's goal.

I changed mine upwards because I sat there for about 4 months, and I really thought it was where I was going to stay. As an adult in my 20's I sat at 78 to 79kg for about 10 years and I thought my body was telling me that's where it wanted to be. I was happy enough with it - I knew I may not be overweight going by numbers but was still a little too "fat" but I'd lost 100% of my excess weight and just scraped into my healthy weight range.

That was about 3 months ago and I've lost 6kg since then, lol. Now I'm really going for 70kg. I do believe I can get there.

But being "at goal" and no longer under pressure to lose has changed my attitude a lot and every new weight I get too I'm just really prepared to wait and see what happens!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
