I have also gained through out the 6 months though I have my last dietician apt next week and I'm feeling to a point where I can't do this anymore... I feel at a point where my minds getting strayed away. I also am a smoker and not sure when to quit I have it in the back of my mind but I'm also feeling like my insurance will deny me cause I've gained.... I've wanted this surgery so bad for my health and for my children. I love food and my treats and I worry I'll never be able to have them again uhhh sorry just needed to vent! Anyone else feel this way so close to end

Did you try scheduling some therapy? To talk about these issues of not being able to give up types of food. It is hard to consider. I do find cravings to go away the longer I stay off most carbs, I am pre-op and not perfect but striving for improvement. I had to explore why I wanted to eat, the stress eating was from anxiety and I was trying to self soothe and retreat, didn't want to think about whatever was causing the anxiety. Severe PTSD from abuse. I have struggled with it and have only recently crossed over the 'oh h*!! NO bridge you don't get to control me anymore. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
