Stomach Ulcer - Long Term Complication

Recommended Posts

Hi There

I am four years out from my surgery this July and I am 99% sure that I have developed a stomach ulcer. I will be visiting my doc next week for further tests, but I was wondering if anyone else has developed this problem as a long term complication and if so, what was the outcome?

Thanks! :-)

I have seen a few posts re ulcers that were treated by using ppi. Do you know what may have caused the ulcer?

I didn't get an ulcer long term but at 2 months post rny I developed an ulcer for no known reason. I was on ppi. They tried max carafate for 6 weeks to resolve without success. I ended up having to have a bypass revision basically having rny all over again at 4 months out to remove the ulcer and make a new pouch.

:( tough times but I am doing very well now. I am 2 months post op of my second rny now. I am 100 pounds down.

The weight loss is fantastic! Ulcer is so painful. It's probably pretty scary to have one in a pouch and not know why, huh? Like how do I prevent another one. Impressed that the surgeon could make a second pouch!
Glad you're on the mend!

Yes!! I was lucky that my first pouch was 6 millimeters (I think) leaving room for the revision. I didn't participate in any normal ulcer causing issues like caffeine, smoking, soda, alcohol and so forth.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
