Stage 3 and I can't stand any food

Recommended Posts

Hi. I was moved up to stage 3 diet on Wednesday which is creamed Soups, puréed chicken (barf) and other stuff that makes me feel sick just thinking about. This has got to be the hardest stage because I don't know who the F could possibly purée a chicken and actually eat it, and if you have I have much respect for you. As for my Premier Protein shakes those make me gag now too. All I really intake is a yogurt and an Isopure or two and lots of Water. I am down 30lbs in 2 weeks so I'm not complaining about that it's just... this sucks. Next week I believe is tuna and chicken salad thank god. You know it's bad when your dying for a nice big salad lol. Sometimes when my head hunger is out of control I think to myself that I could have just died fat and happy. Ugh end rant.

Ps. Please no lectures.

Puréed chicken does sound rather interesting. I'm preop so have zero experience yet with being required to be on a certain diet and I do understand all Drs are different. I was reading through my post op diet requirements today actually and it never mentioned eating puréed Protein specifically, however I do plan on it just to ease into it. I plan on trying baby food. I know from being a mom x3 that the puréed Proteins in baby food are bland and disgusting. Im sure it would taste tons different with salt, though I'm not sure how smart that would be to add. I'm just hoping that it will be much better than trying to purée my own meat lol

Mix the chicken with franks hot sauce, some fat free cheese and fat free ranch. It's not too bad....not great but not horrible. I survived on that and fat free refried Beans.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately refried Beans is no where on my diet plan and I am afraid to stray. You guys are lucky!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
