This is my story....2 time Sleever

Recommended Posts

Hello All...I have story to tell. In 2007 I was sleeved..I weighed about 220 lbs..I wasn't that successful with it ..I lost about 25 lbs...In 2010 I had the band removed, I got the sleeve..I was about 210 lbs...I lost about 50 lbs..I did not take my sleeve seriously...I ate what I wanted..I did no exercise...Over the years I started packing on the pounds..I had acid reflux that was out of this world..I was too embarrassed to go back to my bariatric doctor..Finally in November 2016..I returned to my bariatric doctor..weighing 257 lbs...Im sure my doctor was disappointed but he never said anything.I became a diabetic..my blood pressure was elevated..mind I'm only 5ft 4in ..In February my doctor did a hernia repair and a revised sleeve..because I had stretched the first sleeve....This time around I take my sleeve very seriously..Im 2 months post op...I weigh 201lbs..I exercise and eat very healthy ...Im looking forward to a new journey in my life.

I'm glad nothing bad happened while stretching your sleeve. It's never too late to make the right choices. Keep up the good work and don't give up.

Thank you for sharing. It can't be easy to admit you failed the first time! I'm scared of failing as this is a dramatic life style change. I exercise and I'm determined to do right but the desire to eat is strong. How did you start going wrong the first time and where are ya today? Proud of you for going back with a more serious attitude and desire. Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
