Lately I've been starving for food but when I finally eat it, it's not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. I can only get in a few bites and then my pouch can't take anymore but I'm still feeling hungry....such a weird feeling and head hunger is no joke. When they say you need to be mentally prepared for this lifestyle change, You have to be mentally prepared!!! Despite all of that, I still do not regret my decision and I want everyone to stay encouraged whether you are post op, pre op or considering wls.

Thanks for the info. My date is April 24th and I'm trying to make sure I want to do this.

Go for it! Everyone has their own experiences. You may not go though the same thing post op. I'm still proud of my decision of having the gastric sleeve. I'm losing so much weight that I've been having a hard time getting rid of on my own and its a great feeling. So whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best on your weight loss journey!

From what I can tell you are just sleeved this month. You definitely won't be able to eat much. I am 8 months out and love food. I eat small portions. But it still is not as enjoyable as before sleeve. But that's a good thing. It will get better for you. I regretted the surgery for probably the first three months. After that I am 200% on board

Are you taking a PPI like Protonix? When I was a few weeks out from surgery I had this feeling that seemed like hunger, but turns out it was acid in my new tummy. Once I started taking the Protonix, that "hungry" feeling disappeared. You may want to chat with your medical team.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
