Hi there! PCOS and insulin resistance are the number one reason my surgeon recommended bypass for me over the sleeve. I would talk to your doc and see what they have to say! Put the whole "re rout" thing out of your mind and really look at which option is best for you. Good luck on May 8th regardless, I'm sure you'll be successful either way [emoji4]

You too! I meant to say top 2 reasons. It's been a long day [emoji12]

I really hope your surgeon can help you make the right choice! If you don't mind me asking, how much do you have to lose? I work also consider that as well. If you have a high BMI That could also help choose.

Lol i knew what you meant its ok😀....i have about 80lbs to lose thats stubborn and wont budge. Im a very active person. But i was hoping to find someone who has went through getting the sleeve or any weight loss surgery to see if they succeeded with the sleeve and weight loss because I read alot of people succeed with rny being insulin resistant. Im surprise by the number of people who have with the rny. I really dont want my organs rerouted but i would do if it will help my situation.

Don't do anything you're uncomfortable with! I hope some sleeve PCOSers will chime in and give you some advice!

If you don't currently have GERD or ultra-severe food addiction, go with the sleeve.

The subset of patients for whom food IS life would do better with the bypass or DS IMHO.

My sister was sleeved at the end of last June. She has lost 100 pounds and is almost to her goal weight. We have a history of PCOS in our family and we both have been diagnosed with it. I am going with the sleeve, based off of both her results and my surgeon's recommendation.

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism. I had about 80 lbs to lose by time I had the surgery. My surgeon recommended the sleeve. I wanted the bypass. His reasons were that the results were virtually the same, but the chances of long term complications for the bypass, while low, were still much higher than the sleeve. He said if I had another 100 lbs to lose he'd recommend the bypass, but, and I quote him, "why do such a severe procedure for the same outcome?" So, I did the sleeve. I'm almost 10 months out and I've basically been at goal for 2 months. I'd like to get another 10# or so off, just for wiggle room, but I'm pretty happy here, too. I'm still on Aldactone for the hair issue, and the cysts were well controlled before the surgery with birth control (which I'm still on).

Good luck with your decision!

Yes i understand totally I would definitely pick the sleeve in that case. What I am trying to get is if they basically similar why is the complication rate much more? Maybe he meant its the same weight loss. Congrats on your weight loss. I get cyst crazyy everytime i turn around its another cyst.

Not yet. My surgeon's office should be submitting for insurance authorization this week. Really hoping for a late May date. Fingers crossed that I have no issues with my insurance company!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
