Hi, I was wondering if anyone else hit a weight loss stall sooner than most. The scale hasn't moved since the end of my 2 weeks post op. Once I started purée I haven't lost a pound it has been 8 days so far. Tracking my intake and not doing anything I shouldn't. Trying not to get discouraged. Thanks

Hello,

I've read many posts here about the 2 weeks stall. It happens to MANY of us, and it happened to me too.

You are on 8 days? My stall lasted for 2 weeks! I really didn't let it bug me too much because I knew that it was very common and that I would eventually see the scale start to move again. And after 2 weeks, I did get to see it move. I've probably had 3 stalls since, and I'm just about 5 months post op. I am actually in a stall right now after losing quite a bit of weight over the past month.

So don't be discouraged, know that it is perfectly normal and keep doing what you are doing.

I wish you the best. :)

don't be discouraged. I myself am six weeks postop. I initially lost 25 pounds but now I am in a stall. No weight loss for the past 10 days. Sometimes I believe that the body likes a certain weight and tries to maintain it at all costs. There are always shifts in Fluid fat and muscle which keeps the weight constant. I know I am not eating the calories that I would have to to maintain the weight I am right now. Just give it time. Good luck

I think I wrote the exact same post as you 2 weeks out. I shed a chunk of weight pretty fast post surgery and then BAM - nothing! I think it took more than 2 more weeks before I started losing again. Two things have helped me deal with this:

1. Stop weighing yourself as much as possible - The more I weigh myself the more frantic and discouraged I get. The focus works better if you just try to put it on building a new, healthy lifestyle instead of looking at the numbers as much.

2. Look at the overall loss - You have lost X amount of weight in Y time period. I'm 3.5 months out and I've lost 33.5lbs in that time. I think there were 3 consecutive weeks where I lost nothing but overall I'm happy with the change.

Remember this post and, in a few months when you see some other new sleever posting about their stall make sure to come back and reassure them;)

I was sleeved on 3/31, lost about 13 lbs. within about 8 days and now have not lost a lb. in about 10 days. It does get discouraging, but from what everyone else said it will pass....hopefully sooner rather than later :)

I'm currently 4 months out and in the middle of a stall. It's been 11 days and I keep bouncing the same pound up and down the same pound. Stalls are frustrating, I have to keep reminding myself that it will pass I just have to stick with it. I find when I have a large loss, I usually end up in a stall. I lost 10 pounds in two weeks before the stall started.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
