Hello everyone! I am new here. Had the lap band surgery at the end of July and have lost 20 pounds. Am a little discouraged though because I feel like I am still having to work too hard at it. I have had four fills already and still sometimes do not feel any restriction. Was wondering if there was anyone else having the same issues. How many fills does it take. I have heard some people say they only eat very little and they are stuffed. Have not felt this yet and am hoping I get that way. Any help will be appreciated.

What you are experiencing is something that can happen. Boo Boo Kitty here took 9 fills to get to her sweet spot.

Are you eating your Protein first? Some find that helps with the fuller feeling.

I wish I could help more, but I haven't needed a fill yet. I'm sure you'll find some good resources around here, though.

Hi denise_g,

20 lbs is great, don't sell yourself short. Each person progresses at their own rate.

I have had two fills and at first they are doing the job and I get close to restriction. At the end of my 30 days (I currently schedule a follow up every 30 days) on the first fill I was able to eat, eat, eat. It is only two weeks after my second fill and I am able to eat too much, but notice that I am beggining to stop myself at a reasonable point, but I still eat more than a 1/2 a cup of food. I know I will need that precious third fill I will be getting on the 15 of this month. It really helped me to know everyone is different with thier band. It may take me 9 fills and if it does 9 fills I will get. Hang in there and keep your fill appointments. The only reason I am where I am at this point is because I have chosen to get a personal trainer. He creates my session and I complete my session.

Try to look at what you have accomplished and look forward to when you find your sweet spot. Oh how sweet that will be. All the work you do now will only help you when you are there.

Good luck and you can do it!

MMT

I did not have much in the way of restriction until i got my second fill. Now i have to be very careful not to eat to fast or to much. I have pbed twice in the last week. It is awful. I really need to slow down when i eat. When you get the right restriction you will know it. Good luck. Donna

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
