New band to sleeve on 4/14/17

Recommended Posts

I am feeling better everyday but I must say I'm a little worried as I read through some of these posts. I'm only on day 3, still clear liquid plus Protein Shakes. But I'm already tired of the liquids. Still I'm sticking to it for fear of what might happen if I don't. So will I ever be able to eat real food again and enjoy it? I know I'm several weeks away from most real food but from some of these posts it almost sounds impossible to enjoy eating again.

What you can eat long term is dependent on the individual. I am 1 year 4 months out from VSG. I can eat most things. I can't tolerate caffeinated coffee so I opt for Decaf and until recently could not tolerate salads. I still enjoy food but with quantity limits and these limits are what I'm most thankful for with the VSG.

Liquid and healing stage is tough. I remember thinking "What have I done to myself??" Then I accepted my choice and said "Well it's done so now I make the best of it!" I had my ups and downs but it does get better slowly every day, every week and month. And as those lbs melt away that will keep you positive!

Thank you! That's exactly what I was hoping to hear.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
