Everything I drink makes my stomach hurt.

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on the 10th and I feel the same as the day I left the hospital. Drinking Water, broth, protein shake or just Jello gives me a lot of pain in my stomach. Is this normal?

I would suggest calling your doctor to be sure.

Sleeved the 11the and also having this same pain. I've done some research that says this is normal. Stomach spans. Mine has gotten somewhat better and I noticed the colder stuff hurts worse. If this doesn't resolve or gets worse in the next few days I'm also going to call my surgeon. Today was much better though. Good luck! I feel your pain!

I had my sleeve on the 8th and yes, everything I drink (broth, Water, crystal light, lemon water, etc...) hurts my belly. It's kind of like gas pains but a combination of that with chest pain, and some other stuff all mixed in. So it's pretty normal at first. I'm 9 days out and it's gotten better.

Don't be afraid to bug the heck out of your surgeon. I do for every thing that really concerns me. Send an email, text, call.... whatever works. You'd rather be safe than sorry.

Drinking is better now with less pain. Are you getting headaches? ??

No headaches, thankfully. Yesterday evening I felt a little weak. I didn't want to go walking today but I did. Glad I did too. I feel better and didn't have the weak feeling this morning. Trying to make walking a habit.

Some reason they told me not to take pain meds by mouth. I was like, thats the only way to take them isn't it? If your doc gave you the ok to take an advil then go for it but i'd check first, just in case.

Glad your doing better today too. :) Each day something else will get better.

I've been getting what I would call "pre-headaches", that feeling of almost-wooziness where you know it could turn into pain. I've learned that's my sign I'm not eating/drinking enough. The first day or two I managed to have 2 Protein Shakes each day, maybe a glass of Crystal light. DEFINITELY not enough. In the next few days it would be more like 1 shake, 1 yogurt, 1 juice. I'm still struggling really, really hard to get enough nutrients to avoid the "pass out" feeling. Maybe this is happening for you too? Do you think you're getting enough fluids?

Call your doc just to be sure but also maybe try homemade pureed and strained Soups, No chemical additives\preservatives may be easier for your stomach to handle. All the best to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
