Ineedhelp2014 61 Posted April 16, 2017 I got a Roux and Y on April 12th and was discharged the 13th. That day at the hospital I was doing laps around others in the hall. I know some motivation was to get the gas out and to be released from the hospital. I'm off all pain meds, went to church today and the park with the family. I've walked 3 miles today. I've been persistent about getting my Water and Protein in since my doc has me on this diet until 2 weeks from the surgery. My wife has kind of freaked out thinking I'm doing so well trying to make me go to bed or lay down but I wanna get out and get moving so I can get this weight off. I've lost 14 lbs since the day of surgery and that has given me some super motivation to keep on pushing. Is this normal for recovery? Do most people snap back this quick? I've read some people taking off around 2 weeks. I'm excited about going to work tomorrow for half a day. Is this normal?
sweetnessmbt 4 Posted April 17, 2017 I got the same surgery on the same day. I also lost the same amount of weight. However, I've not been so active. Today is the first day of my phase 2. I think it's different for everyone. Congratulations and good luck! 1 Ineedhelp2014 reacted to this
esskay77 785 Posted April 17, 2017 It's possible to snap back quickly but don't forget that your insides are still healing and even if you don't feel it, it is. So, make sure to not lift anything heavier than 10 pounds and be careful but still keep walking. I assume you are no longer taking pain meds--that was the kicker for me. I couldn't drive until I stopped taking them but I stopped taking them the day I got home from the hospital and didn't really need them--in fact they made me nauseous. I went to work at a week and a half but I have a desk job so it is a bit easier. 1 Ineedhelp2014 reacted to this
