Liver shrink diet issues

Recommended Posts

Hi all, tomorrow is my last day of this bloody diet and I'm thankful. Thankful it's taught me I can survive on lots less food than needed, that headhunger is different to normal hunger and low salt levels play havoc on bowel.

Did anyone else suffer from issues with the LSD or PreOp diet?

Hi, I once did a liquid diet of Water 27 days. Then juiced vegetables for 14. I understand how you feel. I became tired toward the end of both, and that due to lack of Protein.

Generally these diets are not healthy. If you have some activity liquid diets take from stored fat and also from the heart muscle (what my doctor told me.)

I'll be starting my pre op diet today, and I'm not too concerned. I'm thinking for me personally it's a great start to weight loss.

I didn't have too much trouble with the water and veggie juice fasting, but know the pre op will be a bit more challenging. Still going to try my best to stay on plan.

My surgery is June 19th with the probability of being moved up, so I've a ways to go and staying on a liquid pre op diet that long is too much, so will allow myself hard boiled eggs and apples/clementines this months and taper off them about ten days from surgery.

My doctor told me it doesn't matter if his patients do pre op diet or not since they've no way to tell if the liver will have shrunk or not until they are in there, and sometimes the pre op makes no difference, plus he can get in there anyway.

I wish you the best of luck with your sleeve, sounds like you're off to a great start.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
