Hiya! I was banded 25/08 and I have been doing fine. I am coming to the end of my mushy stage and start proper foods on Saturday.

My question is this-I was instructed to eat 3-6 small meals a day of about 6tbs and by the end of the mushy stage have a 3 meal a day pattern in place. This is fine, but rather that measure my mush I have been putting it in a bowl or small plate and just eating slowly and when I feel full I stop. I have literally no restriction and I am pretty sure I have healed well since I was on 3 weeks of full liquids the 3 weeks mushies and I have had no pain when I eat. I have building up the texture ready for proper food. Do you think the amount really matters (too late now though!!) I feel fine I have no indication that anything has gone wrong and I certainly can't eat a full meal, only about half of a normal UK serving. I just have the odd worry about stretching my puch! But my understanding is that I don't have a pouch until the first fill.

Anyway this probably makes no sense, I guess I am looking nfor a little reassurance that other people have done what I have. It will be interesting to see what I can manage at the weekend!

I think listening to your body is what you need to do at this stage, dont eat till you feel really full. Proper restriction will come with a fill, just do all the "diet" things you would previously have done, avoid the fat etc and liquid calories and you should be right.

I dont measure out food. I'm sure all of our pouches adjust to one degree or another. But I just try at all costs to avoid feeling stuffed.

It does happen from time to time, lol, and then I get the major worries over it. But overall, I eat till "satisfied" and that's what you need to aim for.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
