There is a lie about starvation+

Recommended Posts

My father always told me, "Son, if you are hungry enough, you'll eat anything that doesn't eat you first." I took this advice as gospel, as it made common sense. However, after 6 days on a liquid diet, I can honestly say it's false. I'm pretty darn hungry sometimes now, and I could not see me taking another sip of Isopure Protein drinks. I was planning on having the Grape Frost flavor as my "dinner" last night, and it was so vile I poured it out after about the tenth sip let me know it wasn't a trick: it did taste like crap. It was like drinking a chemical concoction. Whatever they used to sweeten the drink was horrible.

I also would not care to ever taste another Jello cup as long as I live, once this phase is over.

Pure whey "protein bullets" are also made by the devil. I was in the military and ate MRE's. A beef patty MRE is like a Ruth Chris filet mignon compared to the Pure whey products. I think I am still psychologically scarred from the consistency of the liquid I swallowed. It was everything I would imagine pond scum to feel like.:)

HAHAHA!!!

Many refer to Isopure as IsopuKe for a reason. Pond scum... I swear that's what they use for texture is Isopuke.

It takes some time to find a whey Protein you like but honest... one is out there.

But the bullets, shots, and shooters? OMG! They are SOOOO bad for you, it's a GOOD thing that you don't like them.

Sounds like you are an unjury kinda guy! It's unflavored. Put it in juice, milk, mix it in whatever you want.

Welcome to the Unjury Homepage

I gotta go with Wasa....Unjury seems to be the best tasting pond scum out there. I use the unflavored in sugar free vanilla pudding and throw in a banana for texture. I can tell it's in there but soooooooooo much better than anything else I've tried! Put the chocolate in a sugar free instant Breakfast....that's as if you're drinking a glass of chocolate milk...totally do-able

Does the unjury totally dissolve, or does it thicken whatever it is mixed in?

weight.png

It seems to dissolve........for the most part. I didn't notice any change in consistency to my instant Breakfast. I've also added the unflavored to a tall Starbucks Lite mocha frappiciano ......it can be a little lumpy if you don't give it a good stir....preferably something stronger than a straw.

Actually, I have some but I've never tried it. If you want me to send you a few samples I will. I only have a couple but you are welcome to them so you don't have to spend money to discover it's gross. :)

There is a trick to using whey Protein for cooking. If it gets HOT it gets gross and clumpy. Consider... clumpy pond scum. BWAHAHAHA!!!

It's not an issue of brand but an issue of whey. You have to stir, dissolve, THEN heat. Then it's not clumpy.

But I don't use any of that crap, I use Matrix 5.0 or now Laurend has me hooked on Whey Gourmet. Never thought anyone could make me reconsider Matrix but Laurend did find some stuff that is amazing.

For clears most docs are fine with Unjury and the nice part about the unflavored is that you can use it during clears, fulls, soft foods, and solids. You just mix it with whatever you want.

Honestly, I didn't do my research on Protein products before surgery. I tried Isopuke and decided that protein is just too damned over rated and who needs it??? While you DO have enough protein stores to go weeks wtihout protein the thing is, protein will kill your hunger during the liquid phase so you are only dealing with head hunger and not stomach hunger both. That's a killer and makes many fail. So you do have to suck it up and get protein in for hunger purposes.

Heh... so glad I'm not you!

Hi Kagoscuba-

I too, absolutely hated the Isopure for a while, but I tried to stick it out because I wanted to get all my Protein in. I started with Grape, but then moved on to Icy Orange, and I have to say that I don't mind the taste of it anymore. I must have gotten used to it. With the exception of the occassional blob of something that looks like snot floating in it, I actually like it because I can kill two birds with one stone...liquids and protein. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
