I'm about 4 weeks post op and I'm really starting to wonder something. How do you eat anything besides Protein? ?!! I get so incredibly full from meat protein (chicken, beef), and even eggs, and stay for so long that I'm not eating anything else. I still can't take the multi vit yet. It makes me vomit within minutes of taking it. So between this and not getting getting any veggies, I'm worried about missing key nutrients. Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm also so worried about stretching my stomach I don't want to overeat and end up back where I was before surgery. On the flip side though, I already have gotten over looking at meals as a event or social thing, like going out to eat, and really it's just a means to an end - eating to survive; it's not something I look forward to or get excited about.

Any thoughts or suggestions

Your pretty early out so eating much of anything is tough. Most vets say it takes 6 months to fully heal.

Right now Protein is essential so it's a primary eat. To eat a veggie requires planning. Once I really wanted some kale chips with my dinner. I made sure to drink two premium Protein Shakes early so I was sure to have my protein before I even started my meal with kale. I ate my kale first:-)

Now that I have a little time and healing in, I can eat a bit more than I could at 4 weeks. I still eat my protein first but can fit in a little green veggie.

Your Vitamins are essential and I would figure out a way to get them down. I did chewables and gummies for quite a while. I still do my Biotin in gummie form cause they taste so good:-). Maybe blend them in with your shake or find a chewable that tastes good. Check with your nut. Mine gave me a handful of samples to try.

You will be surprised to learn that most food addicts are malnourished. There was little true nourishment in the foods that I was eating. The fact that my body is getting good, dense protein probably makes it pretty happy.

Take care

A lot of people talk about stretching their little tummy. My surgeon said I won't be able to stretch mine. If the surgery is done correctly this is not a worry.

The concept of a slider food is new to me and I haven't experienced it yet. Many people mistake the stretched tummy with their ability to put down foods that are bulky on the outside but not inside. Examples: popcorn, chips, etc. once you identify the abuse of a slider food it is important to avoid them in the future.

My surgeon/nut suggests to all their patients, eat two bites of Protein, one bite of veggie, then COMPLEX starch very last (if finished the first two and you are able to). They express the importance of getting a better balanced diet in. NOT ALL PROTEIN. My nut also approved my green bombs. I blend kale, spinach, cucumbers, green apples, ginger, and coconut oil (if I have it) together in the nutribullet with Water. pour them in ice trays and freeze. Keep them in the freezer until ready to use. Currently, I add 3-4 to a protein shake/drink. Post op, I'll be adding 1 in until I can add more. But that's if you're still using Protein Shakes regularly. I never thought to add them in Soups, etc.

Would love to know it what proportions you put the stuff in your green bombs.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
