The thought of taking another sip was nauseating. So, I'm experimenting and seeing how much Protein I can take in without them. Hopefully it will be enough, because I honestly don't think I can handle any more Protein Powder. I'm struggling with it. Unlike others, I can taste the Unjury strongly through almost anything. I'm going to try making some loaded mashed potatoes tonight with aged cheddar and spices and see if that does the trick.

A quick shake works better than any amount of stirring. So they froth as much in a shaker cup? I've been having a tough time with the froth, too.
S Ann 8 Posted April 15, 2017 I can only stand the premade liquid premier chocolate frim Amazon that comes in tetra pacs. Everyrhing else I've tried was abysmal.
Melena68 40 Posted April 15, 2017 My surgery date is 9 May. I have been trying different kinds of Protein Drinks to see which one I like best. I like the Premier Protein pre-made chocolate and vanilla. I have heard that your taste for things changes after surgery. I hope I can still drink this because all the others were not my fave. I like the Isopure, but it is super expensive.

After I drink one, I mix the next and leave it in the fridge until I'm ready to drink it. Seems to be smoother that way.

For me at least, it wasn't that my tastes changed, I just hit a wall after so many weeks of Protein Shakes that I can't bear to drink another sip. 1 walker6153 reacted to this

Here are some options, I play with the yogurt flavors and fruit, but I find I can get them down better than the premixed shakes. I found lots of shakes I liked pre op and actually bought a couple packs and now I don't care for them. I'm hoping it's just because it's right after surgery. Advice- only buy a few to have on hand after surgery just in case! Laura[emoji1] 3 walker6153, Apple203 and MzCoffee reacted to this
Layma 30 Posted April 16, 2017 I am like that with smells and tastes. I am fine the first two days but on the third day it will make me physically sick. I have jars and jars of Protein that I can't consume and are too expensive to throw away. I hate the taste and the dough like thickness of it. Premier protein saved my life. It's not thick and it doesn't taste too sweet or some weird version of chocolate. It's just perfect.
MzCoffee 23 Posted April 16, 2017 6 hours ago, Dianeo said: I have been using unjury unflavored Protein Powder. It's wonderful. The flavor truly is "unflavored" and does not change the flavor of whatever you mix it with. Me too. I'm having my gastric sleeve surgery next week and I hate that chemical/artificial taste of most flavored Protein powder. (Exceptions to that rule are Tara's whey in Bourbon Vanilla and BioChem in Vanilla.) But I mostly prefer unflavored protein powder and agree that Unjury is truly unflavored. It is also on my hospital's recommended protein powders list.
char3672 292 Posted April 16, 2017 I am still pre-op, but I have been trying out alot of different shakes so I can find one I like before surgery. I found Jay Robb Protein Shakes, they are SO GOOD! Taste just like chocolate milk. I've tried choc, vanilla and strawberry, they are ALL REALLY GOOD! I got mine from their website(you can buy single packets to try), but they also sell them on Amazon. Good luck.

All my "thick" shakes go in the blender - I've never had a problem with clumping. Similarly, the nectar powders go into a Blender Bottle. I never drink the (nectar) shake immediately after mixing - there will always be a few lumps. But if you let it sit for 10-30 minutes and shake it a few times then the clumps disappear and the foaming is almost non-existent by then too. 2 harmonylynn and ShelterDog64 reacted to this

It is not just the grit of the shake, I actually don't like the flavor any more. I bought unflavored protein but I can still taste it and it's gross! I now have a shelf full of protein powder I can't drink. I also am having so much trouble with my multi Vitamin, all of a sudden I get sick to my stomach after chewing it. I wonder if after a while it will change again??
