Slowest loser ever! Are several stalls in a row normal?!

Recommended Posts

I don't understand what is happening... I exercise 3 or more times a week. I'm getting in the fluids and Protein and I swear I've had 2-3, 2 or more week stalls in a row and I have no clue why. I'm supposed to lose 17 more pounds when I see my surgeon for my 6 month check-in and at this pace, I don't see that happening.

I think that those of us who lost a significant amount of weight prior to surgery and are closer to goal can lose more slowly than those with more to lose or who have been losing for longer. My weight loss is slow and seems to happen in small bursts since my Jan 3 surgery. I'm finding that less weighing myself helps me not fixate on it so much. Keep doing what you need to be doing and you will get there - that's what they tell me!

I will do my best to try to get my mind off of weighing because it sends me in to panic mode. Thank you.

I'm in my second stall already and I've only been sleeved since the end of January. It happens and yes, it is frustrating, but it will pass. I'm really having to keep an eye on my calories to find that happy medium. Too low and it keeps me in a stall, and don't want too many to slow the loss as well. The scale can drive you nuts. I've only lost like 2 lbs in the past 2 weeks, but I noticed I can reach another notch on my belt now. So even though the scale isn't moving as much as I'd like there is a difference in how my clothes fit.

I weigh daily. At this point I've had more stall days than loss days. Nearly 3 months and I'm down 37 pounds. My longest stall was 3 weeks. I have noticed that during a stall other things are happening.

My body shifts. I was at my wits end for clothes and picked up an old pair of size 14 jeans and they slipped right on with room to spare. I was shocked!

With good hydration and skin care my stalls are beneficial to giving my skin a chance to repair. I will be 50 in less than a month and although not perfect my skin looks better than I expected.

Look for the upside daily to help you through. I weighed yesterday and was up a pound. First up day since surgery. Instead of panic I evaluated my food journal and found two red flags. I did not get all my Water and I had a more than my normal 25 carbs. All we can do is keep trying. I'm really thankful for this tool that enables me to be so in control.

Stalls are normal. Everyone is different with caloric needs. Try not to weigh daily. It could be you are building muscle with working out and may notice inch loss more than weight loss.
Keep going! [emoji254]

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
