So my surgery is May 2nd. I'm curious as to how people felt 10days out. I ask because I was supposed to go on a day trip to Boston with my husband on the 13th (planned before I got my date, and then forgotten, lol.) I'm sure there will be walking, though I can take it somewhat easy, and if push comes to shove, I can pick a place and hang there (I will probably find a way to the aquarium, lol). My husband and I RARELY get trips like this for the two of us without kids so I really don't want to cancel it. Today is the final day to cancel. My husband's guess is 3-4 miles of walking throughout the day.

edited to add: I realize everyone is different, I'm just trying to get a general feel for how everyone else felt. If I wasn't feeling it, I'd take the loss, but if there's a chance I'll be feeling fine, I want to go for it.

In general, I was good to go after about day 4. The biggest hurdle is working through the gas pain, and the walking will help. I've been dealing with sciatica pain since last August so that prevented me from doing a bunch of walking, but if that wasn't the case, I'd have been good to go.

Sounds good. A lot of the people in my program say that staff do a really good job of getting most of the gas out of there after surgery, so I'll have my fingers crossed. Thanks!

I was fine after about 4 days. I also had no gas whatsoever from surgery. Everyone is different though. You should be good, drink plenty of fluids and I'm from Boston and believe me there are plenty of places to stop to rest. Enjoy your trip here :)

I'm 2 days post op and have faith I would be fine to do that by 10 days. Day or surgery and yesterday were bad but I feel way better today. Gas pain is gone and just extremely sore

I was fine after day 6, when my gas pains went away. I'd walk until I was tired and that varied. But I realized that the more I walked one day, the more I could walk the next day. I'm 15 days post op but at 10 days, I think o would have been good for a 3-4 mile walk in a day. Just be sure to bring liquids with you and take breaks if you need to! I know I sure did. Best of luck!! You'll be fine [emoji4][emoji4]

I'm about 9 days out and still in some pain. I'm extremely exhausted all the time. Dizzy when I don't get enough Water and a little emotional. I can walk about a mile without getting tired but that's it. Before surgery I could walk 2-3 miles no problem. I'm actually kinda disappointed in my energy levels but oh well.

I am 10 days out today and just spent a few hours walking around Lynnfield. We were going to go to Boston but I was unsure. I drank a TON of Water & had a Protein Shake before going and did FINE! Sit and restt every hour& stay hydrated. Take some Tylenol if your incisions are a little sore but I think you'll do great!

It got better as the days and weeks went on, but I struggled with fatigue for a solid 2 months post-op. I took six weeks off from work after the surgery. I took a nap every single afternoon, and for those first 2 weeks back to work, I was completely exhausted by the end of the day.

I'm 10 days out today, and I feel good. I'm cranky at the moment because I miss "real" food and chewing, but other than that, all is well. You may need to rest here and there, but should be good to go!

Thanks everyone! We decided to take the chance and keep our plans. Now to plan what to bring along with me. Figure my water bottle, and Protein. I'm still on full liquids at that time (3 weeks, ugggggh) so that will be the other "complication" as I doubt I'll be finding many acceptable full liquid choices on the road. I will probably just plan that once I know what's working with my tummy and what doesn't.

Good job! I'm hoping the fact that I've been walking 2-2.5 miles before surgery will help me get back on my feet sooner. I have chronic leg pain though, and I took some days off this week though. :( I'm feeling pretty positive about all of it though!

Feeling like I have made the biggest mistake in my entire life having had the surgery. No longer able to live a normal life post surgery. I was discharged from hospital only able to consume 120 cc of fluids. 9 days later only 10 ounces and unable to tolerate my shakes anymore. This should be called the liquid starvation diet. I swear I hope it gets better down the road!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
