Do vsg scars ever go away?

Recommended Posts

I'm a little embarrassed about my surgery scars. I have been using many different ointments such as mederma, etc but to would like to ask you all who have gone through this surgery, do these scars ever go away to the point of not visible?

They will be little lines after a year or so - barely noticeable. I have had multiple surgeries and the key to scars going away is time. It's not going to happen in months, but in years. Be patient. Besides, no one else is looking at them but you.

lol compared to my stretch marks and csection scar they are beautiful but really they do fade and are small for surgery. I have pretty much the same scars from gall bladder surgery. So if you are embarrassed because they are from weight loss surgery, no one has to know. But mederma does work well it just takes awhile.

Haha, ok, ok. I can't imagine finding a women I desired less attractive because they have a couple scars on their stomach. Heck, my wife has equivalent scars from gallbladder surgery, and I couldn't care less. Truthfully I am more interested in what is located north and south of her stomach. B)

I still have scars from my first lap band surgery 17 years ago. Then my second lap band surgery, my gallbladder removal surgery and my lap band removal surgery. Now the VSG. I'm over it at this point bc I'd rather be thin and healthy than scar free. No man I've ever been with has even asked about them. Must be what's north and south! [emoji3]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
