4 month post update

Recommended Posts

So I decided to share my before and 4 month post pic and stats. I was on the lower BMI side but was a personal decision for me because of yo-yo weight my whole life and although on surgery day I was down Lbs I still know myself to not keep weight off so stick to my plan. PLEASE no judgmental comments we each do what's best for us! I paid out of pocket and went to MX. Definitely not easy from day 1 but honestly much easier experience then I was expecting after reading so many posts.

I'm 5'5 and highest weight 230

Starting weight 2 week pre op 203

GSV surgery day 195 (left photo)

4 months post 155 (still have a BMI and fat% considered overweight on charts)

My goal weight is 145 or 140

No judgment here. I was at lower end of BMI and paid out of pocket. I have lost and regained 200lbs plus through the years. We all have to do what is best for us. Congratulations - you look fabulous!!!!

Hi, I am in the exact same boat as you. I just had my sleeve done on 4/10 in Mexico. You look amazing. I hope I look like you in 4 months. I'm the same height. I'm at 204 since surgery. Did you work out a lot?

@jjcorley I probably started with walking at about 6-8 weeks post then I started going to Zumba classes around Feb. probably not working out as much as I should/like but for last 2 months I have been doing cardio type workouts about 4 days/week and then a class with weights. My goal now is to workout at least 3 cardio days and 3 weight days. I feel like the weight has been slow to come off at a steady 1 lb a week for a while. I'm now about 10 lbs from my goal. I definitely struggle with getting my Water in and usually don't do have to work on that too! Good luck and I look forward to seeing your progress!!

No judgment here. I'm 5'4" and 230 now (hw 248) 3 days post-op in MX. I'm not very high on the charts but watching my mother get a wheelchair at 47 years old due to the same edema in her legs as I am developing was a wake up call for me to do the surgery. At lower weights the edema is not a major issue. After the lbs start packing on, it makes it so much more difficult to move and lose the weight. We all have our reasons and they are all just as valid. Don't ever excuse yourself for taking a step in a healthy direction.

You look great. Congrats on the weight loss. I will around 31 bMI when I get sleeved next month in Mexico. I am hovering around 210-215 right now and I am 5.8 and a half tall.

I can relate to your story and I have the added issue of being type 2 diabetic. I want to lose 60 lbs and keep it off for good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
