travelgirl 3 Posted October 17, 2007 I drank from a fountain just last night, and had no problems.... And the only things I don't drink with a straw is coffee or other hot liquid, and alcoholic beverages.
Gone4Now 4 Posted October 17, 2007 This topic is so interesting to me! I've been out and about and accidentally sipped through a straw since being banded. My daughter and BF will grab it out of my drink and say, "no!" I get miffed because so far, nothing has happened - I didn't even notice I was using a straw! And, I have a weird hang up about drinking from the glass...forks, spoons, etc - Fine. A glass??? Ick. So, I think I'll start slowly on the straw thing. I've been missing it. wanabthin 0 Posted October 18, 2007 I asked my doc at my apt last night (by the way he and his wife are both banded) and he said the only issue with a straw is that you may find you have a little more gas due to the air but that was the worst of it. He said if I didn't notice the gas then don't worry about it. He also agreed that sometimes it can slow down your drinking if you are still having trouble being more of a sipper (which I am). VegasGrace 1 Posted October 18, 2007 Funny you say that...my twin had RNY and she won't use a straw. Can't remember the reason. But she says it's better for your teeth to use a straw. I'll have to ask her when I see her at Christmas time. Good post!
