oh wow! Well the good news is that you have a responsible team who dealt with the urgent matter first. I know it sucks and I can't imagine how disappointing it is but at least you are safe right now. I was told before I went in that it's possible they would abort the procedure if something comes up. I am sad for you that this happened. :( How shocking and a huge let down. How are you feeling?

OMG...sorry to hear that you went in for one procedure and woke up to another. Just look at it on the brighter side. I'm sure it will happen. It's just been delayed. Hang in there.

Oh wow! I'm sorry to hear that. I was waiting to see how you were doing. I used to see you on the pre op board a lot. Hang in there. July will be here before you know it.

I'm sorry you have to wait but it is good they discovered your spleen problem. I read A LOT before my surgery to find out all I could and did read that sometimes they do find the spleen needs to be removed but often they remove and proceed with the surgery - sounds like you had a special case.

Look at it this way....there is a reason - who knows why but you were not mean to have the sleeve that day. I am sure all will go well in July. Be patient (I guess you have to) and continue to work on your pre-op diet. Good luck to you.

I'm sorry :( That must have been so disappointing.

It's good that they were able to take care of your spleen though. July will be here before you know it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
