Interesting Protein Supplements (post your finds!)

Recommended Posts

Hey all! I am just over a year out and doing very well. One of the things I have compromised on however, is coffee. I missed it and had a few things happen in the past year (unrelated to my surgery) which caused several sleepless nights. I fell off the wagon when it comes to coffee. I found this on Kickstarter, and it made me think that there are likely others like me out there, that would at least like to get a "helping hand" out of there coffee!

Take a look toss them some funds if you, like me think this will be beneficial to you to meet your Protein goals. They are apparently looking to do tea as well! Also, if you have found any other neat ideas to help folks supplement their protein intake, post them as a response.

I'd like to try this. I hear people putting Protein in their coffee, but I can't get past that Protein Powder taste. It's not that great. I've done Protein Shakes for a long time and always manage to make it taste better with various veggies/fruits, etc....but not with coffee.

For coffee, have you tried Fairlife milk? It has a bit of sugar, but not a whole lot, and it's enriched with Protein. There's a regular and a chocolate, and each is a decent calorie/protein breakdown!

I love Fairlife milk! I use it for Cereal and for shakes. I always buy it on sale..it has a long shelf life, just like organic milk, just extra grams of Protein.< br>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
