I had the gastric sleeve surgery 2 years ago. It was a revision from the lapband. My lowest weight was last year at 164. My 2 year appointment was Feb 2017. I weighed 181. I told my doctor about my concern in the gain. I told her I was concerned about stretching. She said she didn't want to operate on me again and that 164 might be the lowest my body wants to go. I was not happy, so I started researching and found the Ketogenic diet. I have been trying it for a couple of weeks. I now weight 175 but I'm concerned that I am not hitting my Protein goal for this diet and I am eating too much for the sleeve. I have also been focusing on getting at least 84 oz of Water in a day. Yesterday I had to eat almost 1400 calories to almost get my 106 g of protein in. I also gave in and had some carbonation this week. I found Zevia drinks.

Please help. I'm not satisfied with my weight but I don't want to compromise my sleeve either.

These were a super help for me early on and are great if I need supplemental Protein now (I am just over a year out and I am down 110lbs). I would recommend drinking one of these after an intense workout. The workout itself will help you curb your hunger, and the extra protein will keep you from being sore.

I have to recommend drinking them very cold though. At room temperature, they have an odd mouth-feel. Also, as a coffee drinker, I am also funding the following on Kickstarter:

Caffeine and protein! Together at last!

From what I've read, carbonation can stretch the stomach. Did you try the pouch reset diet? Why do you need to have so many calories on the Keto diet to get in your Protein? Are you eating high fat foods?

I find Keto is a great way to remove cravings, but I usually only do it for about 3-4 weeks as needed.

I would buy the book "intuitive eating" and begin that journey to go beyond diet plans and calorie counting.

Best of luck-

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
