jnewbie 3 Posted April 11, 2017 I was banded with bmi 35 and gained most back. Just wondering if anyone had surgery with low bmi. Some doctors refuse to do ops under bmi 35. But it would mean gaining it all back. Thank you
Purseynursey 4 Posted April 16, 2017 I was revised in Mexico. My BMI was only 28. My best friend was done at the same time. Same BMI
Blater 17 Posted April 16, 2017 You have to consider if the risk of a revision is worth it. Revisions are far more riskier due to the scar tissue formed by the band and adhesions from previous surgery. Also as a revision your at a higher risk for severe acid reflux. Ok one day this band has to come out. If the band removal and revision is done in 2 stages then the removal surgery will inurr adhesions too. Does it matter if now at bmi 33 or at bmi 36 or 37? Scar tissue is formed all the time, the longer i wait the more scarring will be done. Acid reflux can be avoided by conversion to rny.
Blater 17 Posted April 16, 2017 True, you can't avoid the GERD but it can be most likely resolved by a third revision to RNY. GL
