I got tired of Protein Drinks after, altogether, 6 weeks of liquids only & having them 3-4 times a day. This week I'm 2 months post op & ever since I was allowed to eat regular food, I've had eggs for Breakfast everyday & a lot of variations (vegetable & Protein scrambled, hard boiled, over easy, etc...)

I'm sick of eggs now. To the point where I just don't finish my breakfast anymore. What do you have for breakfast besides protein drinks & eggs?

P.S. before surgery I never ate breakfast, I'm not a breakfast person. I just made my coffee & go. Now that I'm post op, it's crucial for me to have breakfast & I lost my taste for coffee

I haven't had surgery yet, but I have had to follow a high protien diet for the last 3 months to be approved. I like Fage Greek yogurt, the passion fruit is my fav or strawberry. Also Premier Protein shake- Carmel flavor with some cold brew coffee, taste like a latte! I have also made these little breakfast muffin things, by putting a slice or two of deli ham in a muffin cup and pouring raw scrambled egg on top and a touch of cheddar. Bake for like 10 mins and store in fridge, then I reheat them in the morning for breakfast and I think they are like a carb free breakfast sandwich. Sorry I know it still has egg, but at least it's got other yummy stuff too!

Thanks for your reply. I didn't see any caramel premiers where I live. I bought decafe coffee & wouldn't mind trying caramel Premier with it. It actually sounds good. The ham idea is good too. Maybe I'll have a slice of ham for breakfast without the egg.

I'm not a breakfast person either. I had given up breakfast years ago. I went to my dietitian recently and told her I don't eat breakfast also I was having problems with nausea (5 weeks post op now) She told me I really need to eat breakfast even if it is just like 1/2 a banana and a piece of cheese. Especially since I go to the gym in the morning. So I've started eating 1/2 a banana in the morning. My nausea has almost disappeared, not sure if it's because I'm eating solids now or the fact I'm eating something in the morning. I'm hoping to add a little Protein to it too, but the first day I had the banana and string cheese I felt so full. So I'll work my way up to it. Maybe I'll try eating eggs on my off days

I just ignore the fact that it's "breakfast". Sometimes I have sandwich meat with cheese. Sometimes shrimp. Sometimes tuna! Just eat what you feel like eating, that's allowed, even if it's in the morning. And check Pinterest for new recipes!

Thank you for your suggestion. I never thought about bananas. I'll try that & it's easy for my "on the go" lifestyle.

I made beef broth from scratch it is very good, and I find it satisfies me for quite a few hours in the morning when I am in a hurry ,I take it on my way to work.

Get some beef bones from your local butcher if you can,

throw them in a pot bring to boil skim off the dark stuff and simmer for 24 hours,

Add two stocks of celery a large onion, two large Bay leaves, about a tablespoon of pepper corns, salt-and-pepper to taste, and I added organic beef bouillon the stuff that's in a jar I find it taste better than the powder,

Simmer for another hour or two and put only liquid into jars,

After the jars are sealed and cooled

Refrigerate, next morning heat and enjoy

Ps :I used a very big pot

And had three large bones

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
