vstephens1213 1 Posted April 10, 2017 I'm currently 5 days post op. I've been on the stage 1 liquid only diet. Is it normal to not have a BM?
Dianeo 18 Posted April 10, 2017 I am 6 days post op and have only had one. Starting to think I'm going to have to take a laxative. I think tomorrow I'm going to go get some milk of magnesia or some other liquid lax.
doingit4me2017 93 Posted April 10, 2017 Everyone's body is different, but stay on top of it, I was a week out before I had my first BM, and then it was another week, I could feel the discomfort building. Milk of magnesium is the only laxative my dr allows. It works great for me. Stay up on your Water, and I found dulcolax suppositories sometimes can help get things started. I currently take benefiber each morning to and it seems to be helping.
leehowerin 2 Posted April 10, 2017 It's normal to be constipated and the first one may resemble childbirth! My post-op instructions were to take a laxative if I had not had one in 4 days. Good luck. 2 CocoNina and sheliss reacted to this
resitton 50 Posted April 11, 2017 I had surgery 4/7 - had one BM which is a total mystery to me because I've had liquids for a week before surgery and since surgery- not sure what is in my system to come out- so not worried about it yet.... haven't had any pressure to go either... hang in there
