Wow... today is the 11th and I go for my pre op testing. My surgery is exactly one month away. It is starting to feel real.

I just got Approved and my surgery date is May 2nd. YAYYYY! I go Thursday for a 2 hour nutrition class then next Wednesday for my pre-op testing at the hospital. Can anyone tell me what this testing consists of? I start my 2 week pre-op liquid diet this Sunday.

For me I had to get blood drawn, xray and an ekg. I also had to follow up with my PC Dr. And go over my current medications. Prior to all of the I had to get a GI test

It was blood drawn, urine sample and a chest X-ray for me. I had already done an ekg in my previous appt.

I'm May 2 as well! I start liquid diet Monday morning... I haven't had my pre-op yet either. That's 4/26 for me.

I got my call from the insurance on Friday, and today I talked with my surgeons office. Scheduled surgery is May 4th. Only have a liquid diet for the night before but I'm choosing to do a few extra days. I'm so bummed I didn't get in towards the end of April but happy it was approved nonetheless. [emoji847]

Well, I'm having the sleeve done on May 1! I was originally scheduled in November 2016 but had to cancel last minute due to complications from diabetes. Hey, so I'm in a Facebook group for November 2016 sleevers and just stayed in it to see how everyone was progressing. Might be nice if we made a May 2017 Sleevers group on Facebook? I didn't see any when I searched so far. Just a thought.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
